Data Quality Analyst (Remote, North Carolina based)

The Data Quality Analyst will be responsible for driving quality and leading defects prevention and early detection across a wide range of Data Analytics Projects. The Data Quality Analyst will design and execute testing activities to ensure the correctness of data models, reports, dashboards, and data extracts generated for internal and external customers. The Data Quality Analyst will work to adhere to standards established by Alliance to meet organizational and contractual requirements and best practices. They will be proficient using SQL and other tools to review issues, perform analysis and communicate with the development teams regarding identified issues.

This position will allow the successful candidate to work a schedule that will be primarily remote and will report to Morrisville, NC as needed. There is no expectation of being in the office routinely. The successful candidate must be a resident of North Carolina or if hired, able to relocate.

Responsibilities & Duties

General Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement data quality standards, policies, and procedures to ensure accurate and consistent data across the organization
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define data quality requirements and metrics for various data sources and systems
  • Perform data profiling and analysis to identify data quality issues, anomalies, and inconsistencies
  • Design and execute data quality checks and audits to assess the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of data
  • Investigate and resolve data quality issues by analyzing root causes, working with data owners, and implementing corrective actions
  • Develop and maintain data quality dashboards and reports to monitor data quality metrics and trends
  • Conduct regular data quality assessments and provide recommendations for improvement
  • Provide training and guidance to data users and stakeholders on data quality processes and procedures

Design and Execute Testing Activities

  • Design and implement processes to ensure all dimensions of data quality are met in developed data models, reports, dashboards, and data extracts
  • Execute testing activities and implement data quality monitoring processes to ensure data accuracy, availability, and timeliness in a framework of data observability
  • Work closely with various IT data interoperability, reporting and development teams to ensure data quality controls are integrated into data acquisition, transformation, and integration processes
  • Document and communicate with development teams and individual developers regarding issues identified in testing activities
  • Participate in analysis activities to be able to provide testing on different data projects

Implement Initiatives for Defects Prevention and Early Detection

  • Participate in Data Governance initiatives to implement measures to prevent defects and errors in Alliance’s Data Ecosystem
  • Collaborate with data governance and data management teams to establish data quality best practices and standards
  • Guide and support multiple data development teams on unit testing, defects and errors prevention and resolution

Documentation

  • Create, develop, and maintain test artifacts/documentation for data models, reports, dashboards and data extracts

Minimum Requirements

Education & Experience

Associates degree in computer science or a related field and at least 5 (five) years of experience working in a Data Quality, Quality Engineer, QA Engineer or Business Analyst role researching, reviewing ensuring data quality dimensions.

Experience working with healthcare data is highly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Strong SQL skills and knowledge
  • Highly proficient in querying databases directly, including the ability to query, compile, and manipulate large datasets
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to work independently and make continual progress while managing multiple projects and priorities
  • Strong Analytics and/or Project Management skills
  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong understanding of data quality concepts, principles, and best practices
  • Familiarity with data integration and ETL processes
  • Knowledge of data governance and data management frameworks is desirable

Salary Range

$75,438.27 to $129,865.03/Annually

Exact compensation will be determined based on the candidate’s education, experience, external market data and consideration of internal equity.

Education
